INCLUDED: One (1) NEAR MINT+ condition DANBURY MINT doll which has been stored for several decades, displays well and is 100% original.
PRINCE WILLIAM doll has box, inserts, hat, stand and paperwork.
To capture both the personality and the physical likeness of Prince William, the Danbury Mint exclusively commission Judy Bell, one of the world`s most prominent doll sculptures. Working from actual photographs taken at the Royal wedding, Ms. Bell created a sculpture of the young prince, capturing in vivid detail his adorable features. This original work of art forms the basis for the making of the doll itself in a generous 12-inch size. As you can see from the photographs, this is Prince William captured in a collector doll so real it is astonishing!
The sailor suit worn by Prince William was commissioned by Princess Sarah and designed by Gieves & Hawkes, tailors to the Royal Navy for over 200 years. The suit was styled after an outfit worn in 1846 by 5-year-old Prince Albert Edward, later to become King Edward VII. Our dedicated designer has skillfully recreated Prince William`s adorable sailor suit from top to bottom.
It consists of an expertly hand-tailored, full-cut white frock fashioned with the wide V-neck and blue bands on the upper arms. The broad blue collar is decorated with regatta stripes. The large blue cuffs on the sleeves are trimmed with white stripes and finished with fouled-anchored buttons. Notice the traditional wide-leg trousers, the turned down collar of the uniform shirt… The knotted navy blue neckerchief. The ensemble also includes a sennit hat, featuring a broad brim and shallow crown. A navy blue ribbon with long tails circles the hat.
Even the Mariners knife he wears at his waist is an authentic accessory. Nothing has been overlooked… Right down to the white whistle cord draped around the dolls` neck – Prince William`s whistle was removed from his cord just before the ceremony, no doubt by his cautious parents!
The head, lower arms and legs of the Prince William doll are meticulously sculptured in fine bisque porcelain, in the same manner as valued collector dolls made in the 1800s. The facial features are artfully hand – painted to reveal the boyish complexion and bright eyed wonder of the Prince.
An attractive display stand will accompany your Prince William doll so that you can easily show him to the admiration of family and friends. The doll will also be accompanied by a certificate of ownership, which will be personalized in serially-numbered thus establishing its unique place within the edition.
